Contribute to the Repository
This archive grows one piece at a time, and some of the best pieces are sitting in Cabot attics, albums, and desk drawers. If you have a piece of Cabot history, you can share it here.
What we're looking for
- Photographs — streets, schools, teams, churches, businesses, events, buildings, or just everyday Cabot life, any era.
- Documents — programs, letters, maps, menus, tickets, flyers, reports, yearbook pages, anything printed or written about Cabot.
- Newspaper clippings — especially from the old Cabot Star-Herald, whose run survives only on library microfilm.
- Written memories — a paragraph about a place, a person, or an event is a contribution too. Type it into the form, or upload it as a document.
- Oral histories — a recorded conversation with someone who remembers the Cabot that is gone. A phone recording is fine. New to interviewing? Read Collecting an Oral History, our short guide to interviewing the older people in your life — then upload the recording the same way.
How it works
- Upload through the form below — the file, your name, and whatever you can tell us about it.
- Review. Nothing is posted automatically. A person reads every submission first, and we email you with any questions.
- Indexing and posting. Approved items are indexed — the text is extracted so they become searchable alongside the council records — and posted with credit to you, exactly as you specify on the form (your name, or anonymous). Oral-history recordings are transcribed first, and the transcript is what gets indexed.
Please only share material you have the right to share. Scans or clear photos of documents are perfect — keep your originals. Depending on copyright, some contributed items (newspaper clippings in particular) may be indexed and described rather than reproduced in full.
Open the contribution form (opens in Google Forms; Google requires sign-in to upload a file).
